Had you ever noticed, you always find things in the last place you look.

That would be because you stop looking after you find it so it is always the last place that you look, unless you are very silly and continue looking for something that you have already found

Ok, well answer this one - why do windscreen wipers only malfunction when it's raining... oh wait, never mind...

'one of the chief risks of a small company with little chance of growth under the previous system we all enjoyed so much is that of stagnating and then going bust.'

'Zopa is a business.  It owes nothing to us'

I quite agree with both of these posts.

I'm not one to winge about the 'hardship' of having to find places to lodge surplus money: I consider myself fortunate to be in that position.

I'm also grateful for the opportunity that ZOPA provided, and respectful of its future needs.

I'm sure ZOPA have seen enough feedback from disaffected lenders by now to know how the changes have been received in some quarters, but the amount of new money flooding in must confirm to them that they are taking the right course for the future of the business.

I still have money working its way through the system; so will be a ZOPA lender for some years to come. I also enjoy reading and contributing to this forum and have learned a lot from many of the contributors. Who knows, if the risks outweigh the rewards in the P2B world I may yet come crawling back to the relative safety of ZOPA.

Am I the only one getting annoyed and planning to pull their funds out?

Richard.

I too am slowly pulling out.

My initial 'investment' in Zopa was to test the concept and then to put more money in once I had a few years experience under my belt. Through no fault of ZOPA interest rates began to fall, and I haven't made any new loans since October 2012.

Safeguard is not for me: one of the draws of ZOPA was the freedom to choose markets and rates. I can see that Safeguard is attractive for those who have large amounts of cash they need to protect from inflation and the uncertainties of other forms of investment; and also for those who don't want to have to attend to the process regularly.

I am looking for a higher rate of return than ZOPA can now provide for the risk. (How big is the Safeguard fund now, and how big is it intended to be? Who would own the fund if ZOPA was closed down?). I'm also looking for more engagement in the process of lending than ZOPA now offers.

SO, my 'play' money is now going to business lending on another site, where interest rates are between 6.5 and 15% and lending periods are between three months and five years.

To the ZOPA backers I say well done for starting it up in the first place; the world is undoubtedly a better place for it and good luck with its further development, and your eventual reward if you can capitalise on it.

PS
At what point will ZOPA feel its name is no longer descriptive of its activities?  Perhaps 'Zero Option Protected Account' could be quietly substituted?

Fantastic. f only we can have the Star Wars effect when expensive one-off fighting scenes can only be justified as a few minutes of a feature movie can give birth to less pure CGI being available in profusion (A big improvement as far as my 7 year old son and his friends are concerned at least). So how do we set up a cyber market to reintroduce listings!

Come over to the dark side Luke Skywalker - channel your vague air of miffedness towards Assetz Capital. There you can realize your full power to take risks with your money (evil, echoing cackle)...

It's really hot under this big hood!
