Shame about the term "application fee". To me, this means a fee when you apply regardless of outcome. Also, we know the fee is variable.

We were warned of this in the weekly email, although it was missing from some people's emails.

With so many savers putting money into Zopa lending is slower than usual. To attract more borrowers and increase lending speed we are launching a market-leading loan tomorrow. This may mean the projected returns may fall slightly this week. You can see the projected return each day on the rate history page in your Zopa account.

Zopa is currently market leading across most (perhaps all, hard to check as comparison sites haven't updated) loan values, this wasn't the case yesterday at least for 5 year loans above £7000ish.

Putting on my speculative hat, this could be a test to complement the promotion a month ago. That time there was a press release and subsequent media coverage, this time there is nothing. This might inform on whether price or press is king. (cue press release proving my speculation wrong  )
