Whether it was your first, your last or just your favourite, this thread is to record your memorable Listings.

Please don't shame any bad payers or the like - just keep it friendly and in the spirit of Zopa.

I'll start with 'My first Listing' (mbilly)

Here's one loan that HBOS or Bradford & Bingley may well have liked:

Car

Why did I go for it?

This is the first listing back in October 2007 and I was a part of it, which is another reason why I want to be part of the last listing.

As you will see the borrower was one of the Zopa founders who was obviously helping to get listings off the ground. (as safe as it gets!)

The loan was paid off early after 4 months so I did not make much out of it. Another thing I like is the car itself, not that I would be seen dead in it  ;)

Ah yes, the "friends and family" listings to get the show on the road - I don't even remember that one(!), missed out on Drew's and Adrian's, but I made it in on James's!

As for a favourite, hmmm, difficult to choose between the fast car, the not so fast car or the out of the ordinary. :)

Probably the most memorable for me was the guy that I drew "the graph" for:
listing
Graph V1
Graph V2 (or rather, where it used to be)

I still use essentially the same graph to visualise bidding patterns on listings (primarily on Funding Circle now). I have "my own bids" highlighted in red...

My second rather than my first listing stuck with me. second listing

It was before I had completed my research or done the math. After lending far too much, I realised that if he were to default it would wipe out all my expected interest for a year even if I had no further defaults.  Therefore, the only way to mitigate it was to lend more in Zopa than I had originally intended.

The good man was kind enough to settle it all in two months! :-)

I wish I had paid more attention to the listings now, I had no idea of some of the underwriting skills that us lenders have,

How fast does your train go ?

What colour are they are ?

May I have a ride in the cab ?

And I thought Tony Saprano was one of our best underwriters

I've been a lender for barely a month now (and disappointed that rates have now fallen below what I feel is a reasonable return for the risks involved, but that's another story). I AM glad that I got here just in time to be part of both "Something out of the ordinary..." AND the 'Lasting'. It's good to see a personal, social side to making money. I hope Zopa has some plans up its sleeve for the future.

I'd have to go for this one, as (I think) the only listing where I put in a semi-charitable rate. Well, it was Christmas.

P.S. Mods, feel free to obscurify the quote in my last post if you think I've crossed the line there, looks like it's too late for me to edit...

I want to pay tribute to this borrower.  Over a year gone and every single payment on time.

Why "memorable"?   Because this was my first and only Listing.  Made soon after I joined as a lender and just before I realized they were the work of the devil.

On the one hand, I still have it, and it contains no more information than that which Zopa already publicly display on the listing page itself...
... on the other hand it really feels in hindsight like it was sailing a bit too close to the wind w.r.t. section 12 of the Zopa Principles ("Protecting Zopa Information"), and possibly other sections relating to data, given that it displayed full details of every individual bid on that listing.

erm, yes, but one did not need to be logged in to see that, so it was not "private" information, it was "public" information. I think.
