My father knows that I've been putting money away towards an eventual home deposit for ages and that I've been very disappointed with the return from my savings account, my cash ISA, my shares ISA and some other money I've got in shares...

He told me about a brilliant idea he saw on the BBC News yesterday morning where I could lend money directly to borrowers so that I could get a greater return on my money while also helping people who needed to borrow do so more affordably. He was quite surprised when I told him I already had quite a bit of money in Zopa!

The Financial Brand - Differentiate Or Die: Boring Banks Need Brand Personalities

Quote

The financial sector has been rocked by a rapid influx of new players who shake everything up with all kinds of innovative technologies. Brands such as Mint, Zopa, Dwolla, Billmyparents, Smartypig and Square are changing the way we interact with our money and could pose a real threat to older, more traditional players.
