Attached File  Risk_Info_to_lenders200704030.zip   4.28K   267 downloadsFrom Karen Wilshere, Zopa's Risk Director
---------------------------------

Hi there

We wanted to provide more transparency to all our Members around the level of bad debt in the Zopa markets.

Attached is a table that shows by quarter, by market, the actual level of bad debt since launch.

The bad debt level, expressed as an annual %, is calculated for each market in each period as follows:

Amount of outstanding borrowing written off or transferred for debt collection (£)
Total amount of money borrowed (£)

Borrowers who miss a repayment are transferred to collections immediately that they fail to make a payment and, after contact by Zopa, fail to rectify that missing payment; or where Zopa have been unable to contact the borrower. This is normally within 1 or 2 weeks of their missed payment..

We've also shown the expected level of bad debt that we provide lenders as guidance at the point their lending offers are made. As you can see, thus far the market and therefore your returns on a diversified portfolio, are well ahead of the expectations set.

We've also provided the usernames of the borrowers that have been written off or who are currently in collections (NB some borrowers who are in collections may fully recover in the future)

We will update this information Quarterly.

Karen

Have I mentioned how much I hate this bulletin board software? Anyway...

Try this.

I've tested this with a couple of other users who aren't moderators or employees and it seems to work fine.
Are you able to download any of the previous versions we've published?
Thanks

I also hadn't been able to download this, getting the same error as pomma, but it was working by the time of your second post.

You're right, listings have probably been going long enough now for some bad debt figures to be interesting, if not statistically significant. I'll get these to you next week.
Bougedela will be included in the late payers list later today.

Indeed.

If my maths are right to mid Jan bad debt compared to total lent was 0.13% and 0.07% (rounded) respectively.

Hello again.

A couple of borrowings have, unfortunately, gone to a Defaulted status.
All effected lenders have been contacted and where relevant, their debt has been purchased as per the Zopa Principles by CRS.
I therefore thought you might appreciate the latest bad debt figures so you have full visibility of the impact this has had on our performance to date. I'm pleased say their impact is small and we're still beating our overall estimates by miles.
The 'It's Safe' page will be updated with these as soon as possible too.
